Help & support

Find and reuse something you copied, keep everyday text as a template, and control what stays in your clipboard history. PanoBox is available in English and Turkish.

Updated 17 October 2026← PanoBox

PanoBox is available as a Windows installer and as a portable x64 ZIP from thePanoBox product page and the official GitHub releases.

Getting started

  1. Download the installer (…-Setup.exe) or the portable ZIP, together with SHA256SUMS.txt, from the official releases page. Compare the file's SHA-256 hash with the checksum file (PowerShell: Get-FileHash <file> -Algorithm SHA256).
  2. Run the installer, which installs PanoBox for your Windows account only. Or extract the portable ZIP into its own folder and start PanoBox.exe, keeping the included notices and license files with it.
  3. Copy some text in another application. Open PanoBox with Ctrl+Shift+V.
  4. Type to search, use ↑ and ↓ to choose an entry, and press Enter to paste it.
  5. Use the settings button or tray menu for the interface language, capture preferences, templates, appearance, backups and a manual update check.

The x64 package targets Windows 11 22H2 (build 22621) or later and includes its .NET runtime. There is no separate .NET installation step or need for administrator rights. The installed app keeps its data in %LOCALAPPDATA%\PanoBox. Keep the portable application's folder writable if you want its Data folder beside the executable.

The installer and executable are currently unsigned, so Windows may display a SmartScreen warning. A matching checksum detects a changed download; it is not a code signature. Obtain the complete package from the official release repository.

Searching and templates

Search supports Turkish character normalization and multiple words. For example, ocak fatura finds an entry containing both words; matches at the start of an entry or a word are listed first. Use "exact phrase" and-word to exclude, and narrow results with type:text, type:image, type:file, app:chrome, pinned:1, after:yesterday or after:7d (Turkish forms such astur:resim, uyg: and sabit:1 also work).

Pin an entry to keep it through normal history cleanup. Use Templates for reusable text, with variables such as {date}, {time} and {clipboard} (Turkish: {tarih},{saat}, {pano}). Create and edit templates in Settings → Templates, which shows a live preview.

An expanded template is limited to 1,048,576 characters. If its variables would produce more text, PanoBox shows an error and does not copy or paste the expanded result. Shorten the template or its clipboard variable and try again.

Something was not captured

  • Check whether capture is paused (the palette shows a banner). Resume it, then copy the item again.
  • Applications listed in Settings → Privacy are never recorded.
  • Image capture can be disabled in settings. Very large images, long text and rapid repeated clipboard changes can also be skipped.
  • The sensitive-content filter may intentionally skip recognized password-manager sources and credential-like text. It cannot detect every secret.
  • Other clipboard tools can compete for access. Copy the item again after the other application finishes updating the clipboard.

Pasting does not work in the target application

Games, elevated windows and some other applications reject simulated key input. Select the entry and pressCtrl+C, return to the target application and paste with its own paste command. If the global shortcut is already used by another program, choose another shortcut in PanoBox settings.

Image quality and OCR

Image history preserves the copied image's pixel dimensions in a local PNG, within capture limits of 16,777,216 total pixels, 7680 pixels on either side and 16 MiB per encoded image. The palette shows a smaller preview. Larger images are skipped, and small or blurred text can still be difficult for OCR to recognize.

Choose the image entry's OCR action. Install a Turkish or English OCR language package through Windows language settings if recognition is unavailable. PanoBox uses the local Windows engine; it does not send the image to a cloud service. QR generation creates an image from a text entry; it does not read QR codes.

Moving the app or removing its data

Settings → Backup and data shows where your data is. A backup contains history, image files, templates and preferences in one file that restores into another folder or PC; restoring adds missing entries without deleting existing history. You can protect a backup with a password (AES-256); PanoBox cannot recover a forgotten password. Backups from 1.7.0 and earlier (JSON) still restore, without images.

Before updating, create a backup. The installer upgrades in place and keeps your data. For the portable app, exit from the tray and replace the application files while keeping the existing Data folder; a moved or copied portable folder keeps its image history. To switch from the portable app to the installer, back up in the portable copy, install, then restore the backup.

To remove the installed app, use Windows Settings → Apps; the uninstaller asks before deleting your data. To remove the portable app, disable optional startup and Explorer integration, exit from the tray, then delete the app folder and its active data folder. Delete exported backups, text exports and other copies separately. This does not securely erase disk contents or clear Windows clipboard history. Clipboard information is stored without application-level encryption; read theprivacy policy before putting it on a shared or synced drive.

Updates

Choose the manual update check in settings or the tray menu to ask GitHub for the latest stable release. If a newer version exists, PanoBox can open its release page in your browser. It does not download or install the update for you. A failed check does not affect local clipboard history.

Contact

Include the PanoBox version, Windows version and the action that failed. Use a harmless sample instead of sending real clipboard text, images, passwords or a database backup. Follow the security policy for private vulnerability reports.
